Ups and downs this week. I finally made it up the wall! Happy. Essentially one of my submissions on Thursday studio was deemed good enough to be collect and pinned to the wall. Finally. Some sort of physical affirmation of my work. I wan't happy with our previous week's submission. it was group work and I was in a group with two PRCs. My printer was down so I left it to one of them to collate everything. We did get out project out on time compared to some other groups but our pictures were printed in black and white. B/W for chrissakes.

Technically late submission entails a deduction of marks but as our lecturer is teaching just this sem and from the US, I dunno if he'll adhere to this. So if there wasn't deduction, I wouldn't have minded handing in a better (colour) version of our final submission. Argh. Hell of a submission. Even those that submitted late, at least they submitted better looking pieces. You have to be hungry. You need to have the want, the need, the will to succeed to strive for the best you can give. That's why I'm giving my all. It's all in now.

That's why even when we have a reading based on a documentary, I googled it and actually found the Youtube videos. Watching it right now. Mention of Helvetica in a studio session. Torrented. I need photoshop to do my Thursday project. BUT I DONT HAVE IT. Argh. I keep trying to download it (trial) but it always FUCKS UP. I WANT PHOTOSHOP. It's not a must, but it sure as hell makes my life easier. I suppose my ultimate backup is Microsoft Powerpoint. =\

I need to get it done by Thursday. On the bright side, I have done most of the work I need to do. But I still got still I have to touch up on. Need to reorganise again. Tues is done. Wed readings, watching the VIDEO. Thurs. AUGH. Fri...touch up sand paper. Next Mon, work on my Designers presentation.

Another thing is, well, the positions I applied for in block comm are taken up. Level IC and publicity head. MAYBE I can get something else? I dunno. I really really want to get it because I think I'll like it. But I only mentioned these two placings to them. Maybe I should tell them. Someone else got publicity head. =( Whyyy? I mean, you have this guy doing industrial design and u give it to someone who said 'anything' for what post he wanted? Furthermore when quite a few people applied for the post? Why? Not that I'm saying he doesn't deserve it, cos he's a great guy and all, but when I asked him if he got it, he said "Ya, sian..." Then I don't really see the link there anymore. I want it and yet...sigh.

Quite demoralised by this. If I don't get in, I'll be damn sian. If you don't let me have something, Not only am I isolated in the corner of level 2, I'll be cut out of the loop even more.

School was ok. One of my instructors is overseas so we don't have studio today. Haha. Today's lecture ended at 1030. So I was totally free then. It was raining pretty heavily. Perfect weather to sleep. I went back to hall and ran into Sixu on the way there. What a pelasant surprise. Sat down and chatted with him before moving on. Came back and went online, did stuff and sent my laundry for washing before going to sleep.

Someone must'vew interrupted my cycle because when I collected it it was all soaking wet. =.= So I sent it to the dryer and it took a couple hours before I had reasonably dry clothes. Went to play volleyball. Was quite fail. I lost two balls over the fence. Later someone found one. Thank goodness. It belonged to my friend. Haven't found the other. Will look tomorrow morning.

We lost the first one but were quite good in the second match. We missed out on the finals by two points! Oh well. I need to sweep my room soon. Getting dusty. Ick. I totally need instant noodles. Hungreh. Looking forward to restocking my food supplies tomorrow! Also got work to do. I suppose the benefit of having various projects to do is that when you get tired of one you can work on the other and feel slightly more refreshed!

Nothing much to blog about today. School was ok. Learnt how to use Solidworks,which was pretty fun! haha.

Something interesting I came across while doing research for my project. I'll have to write about two designers etc. Still thinking. I mailed my tutor about my possible choices,see what he says. =) Yesterday night I worked till 530. AM. I was rushing my work for today's studio. =\ Took damn long. They asked me to come support for IBG.

I mentioned I had to rush work for Tues but someone else said he has a lot of work and a super long day ahead. Well that's nice but unlike you, I can't just rip off/copy tutorials and assignments or smoke my way through entire essays. There's no substituting for the real thing, your own, original work. Hard work and effort, and no way around it. No cheating here.

So I coloured and drew all the way from like 10pm to 530 before finishing everything I had to finish. I actually overshot and did some extra work but it saves me some time I guess. I just have to refine my designs. Went to meet XW after studio for like 15 mins =( Val wanted to meet at first but ran off to met her cousin.

Went back hall and felt like doing work but was quite tired. XW convinced me to sleep so I did. Woke after an hour and she convinced me to sleep another. I felt much better after but feel very sorry for the two hours I wasted not working. =( I got 2.5 hours of sleep the previous night and I often used to stay up without sleeping.

Decided to take a break from all that drawing and did some hardcore wiki-ing to research for this project. Not very urgent but good to start a bit first. Most immediate concern is reading for AR1221 tomorrow, which I've done. Thursday semantics project I've done but need to print it out somehow. DAMN YOU PRINTER.

Friday...lecturer not around. BUT I need to finish filing my acrylic(pain in the ass) sometime soon. I don't want to drag it out for too long. Maybe...Thurs morn. And think of how to make my foam sphere. Blogging is good. Helps me to sort out my thoughts easily especially when I have so many concurrent things going on. In my free time I shall complete my metamorphosis assignment too.

Side note: Man I love hall. Hall is freaking awesome. I totally take it for granted. It's so convenient I don't think about the 3 hours I save on transport everyday doing nothing. The people around, the community, the company, it's like living in a chalet 24/7. There's fun to be had, and there's a sense of freedom and independence. Totally unlike army. Living on the 2nd floor has its constraints. I'm right next to the gate, but I guess it's convenient. There's an abundance of 'foreign talent' and its quiet, but hey, it's quiet!

I suppose it's a blessing in disguise because it's really as conducive environment to study in. Party Central is level 4. And when you're staying in hall, you really need to balance out your life properly. And not get distracted when you shouldn't be. Level 2 does that for me. Open the door when I want to interact, close it when I get down to work. Just like an on-off switch.

Woke up and wanted to go buy more snacks for my room but then thought I had tuition. Went to sleep and waited for val's dad to call me. Then XW says they were in Malaysia. Cos they didn't call me. Ehh. Wth. Went to meet and twins and YM for lunch and then XW. Went down to Ben's place to pick him and nx up and went to her place. My hackint0shiba ran into some probs so ben is trying it out with my hdd now. Came back to hall. I need to get down to work. READINGS.

A new colour all-in-one printer! I'm seriously considering this because if ben can't help fix my current one, I'll probably need a replacement. And I freaking spent $40 on ink. I can sell the other on ebay, I hope. Anyway requirements are print+scan in full colour, ability to have borderless printing(!) and also print on photo paper will be a good bonus.

14" screen protector for my laptop! (Actually I'll just get this cheap at COMEX along with a laptop pouch, nvm.)

A lens for my future Nikon. Though I'll have to ask to find out what I should get to complement my collection. Looking at a macro lens. If I'm doing product photography.

Slippers. Falling apart. I can fix them but it's getting annoying. NO GAY COLOURS LIKE PINK OR PURPLE. I know what some of you are thinking.

Tired. Sch today was ok. Tried not to sleep after sleeping at 2am last night. Morning lec was quite sleep-inducing. Got new project to work on. Went down to library to research for it later. Lecturer wants us to use books too. So we did. Heh. Met val for a short while =) and then went to class. 5 people's cubes passed out of 33 people in the class. =\ Damn sian mine got rejected. Feel very peeved. My dimensions were ok but I had one side not very straight and one slightly misaligned corner. ROAR. MUST DEFEST CUBE.

More work to do. Gotta note down what I need to complete. Freaking stressed. I must transform a 11 x 11 x 11cm cube into a 10cm diameter sphere. WTF. After sch I went to play handball cos they didn't have enough players. Didn't have dinner. =\ Had supper. Spent more money. Tomrrow morning touch rug at 730. FML. I really don't wanna go. But they don't have enough people too. I NEED MY SLEEP. Sigh. Going to work late again tonight.

First I'll lay out what I need to complete next week then pack my bag so I can head stright to find ben and nx after I leave school. And also have stuff I need to bring home. Tired tired. So much stuff. I should try to cut my cube. Forgot to bring back my PVA glue SHIT.

Today was ok. Woke upfor breakfast and slept till 9plus and headed down to studio fto build my cube. Reached at 10 and started cutting and building. Builing a perfect 10cmx10cmx10cm cube is harder than it sounds. I finished just nice at 2 just as our lesson was beginning. Pictures on FB. You gotta see it! My cube is done!

What I did was to cut all my sides,and cut some more for those that had too large a margin of error, and find better replacements. Then I wrote out the lengths on each side. Surprising, where I got 9.65 or 9.6 when I needed to cut 9.7, I could find matching lengths on different pieces, enough for them all to mesh together!

After joining all my pieces together and topping it off, I measured with my ruler and found that it was actually quite alright. =) So I'm really happy it turned out fine. Just need to wait for what my lecturer says tomorrow. He'll be checking the size of our cubes! Wish me luck!

After sch I went down to Clementi to buy vernier calipers. I went in a group of 4. There were only two left. I was damn sian/pissed. Freaking suay can? Bloody hell. I SPECIFICALLY came down to buy my FRIGGIN' calipers and they're sold out. I finished my cube so I gave them up to the two of us who hadn't. And returned empty handed but a couple dollars poorer from the stupid transport.

AND I have to make that journey back TOMORROW again just so I can BUY those FRICKIN' calipers again. Yes. Very. Pissed. Zzz. I made a SPECIFIC trip to get it. And need another. CB. Lucky it's quite cheap compared to other places. ROAR. Tomorrow is a long day too. Sigh.

Went for lec today. Seems likea pretty free day. Lec from 11-1. Not so. After that, went for lunch and to Art Friend again. I needed arcylic thanks to some miscommunication. The short story is this. A B C went to buy art supplies. A thought they were sharing all the (quite large) pieces of acrylic. B and C thought it was one each. They thought of D, who might want it. B and C thought D's piece was with someone. A thought it was shared. End result, A and D have no acrylic.

Now, D seems unhappy and sort of complained to B. But the thing is, I don't think you are in a position to complain. We thought of u as well, thats why we asked if u wanted. It's not like you asked us to buy it and we failed to do so. Even A also doesn't have it.

Anyway, just returned from a wake. One of my blockmate's relatives just passed away. Think I'll try to chiong finish sandpapering my acrylic. With one trip to Art Friend and to the workshop, one of my assignments is now nearing completion. =) Left the cube as the most urgent item. I must wake up early tomorrow to try and finish it! Roar. Due on friday. Notime notime!

Acers win floorball champs! So awesome. Great game. =) Thanks to all involved. Lol. Just came back from supper (I only had CCT. =)) and talk in the lounge. =\ Really should pick up on my work. Falling a little behind time. Thing about this is that you can't smoke your way through an essay or tutorial or copy work. You gotta draw and work at it. Last min work = death if you don't make it. Crap.

It's a bit odd to be drawing and sketching when people are reading and writing. I'm getting a bit of the 'should i be doing this?' vibe, but I think it's just a bit of nerves in that I'm totally stepping away from the coventional path. Doing unusual things and and I'm one of the very tiny minority, that's why.

Sch was ok. =) Woke up at 8 for breakfast and went Clementi go get my atm card. Went back. Just nice started raining and slept from 10 to 1. Awesome. ^^ Haha. Went for lesson. Submitted my form for Shanghai and went to meet XW. Stayed in my room and studied a bit. My first reading had 4 pgs of text and 10 pgs of full page pics. Haha! Next one has 26 pages. >< Supper in lounge now. ^^

Yeah. Got smashed up during floorball. Thurs was ok. Interesting lecture. =) Went to Clementi and Taka to buy more equipment. Reached back late. Went for softball training in the night. Got hit in the balls by someone else's poorly caught ball. FML. Went for floorball. Got smashed in the face. Chipped my tooth, gashed my lip up bad. Spat blood on the floor. Banged up real good. FML.

Fri was long but ok. Met val for a while during my lunch break. Then went to meet YM and Shawn at Tanjong Pagar. Went to Shots on Ann Siang Hill. Was quite a nice place to chill. =) Then got home. Got a weird email; from the electronics shop. Asked ben and he fond that they actually are quite fucked up. I checked I had no deductions so I blocked my card too. Rar. I'll just get it from a local store.

Did my assignment at home and then came back to hall. Softball tomorrow morning. Roar. Then tuition. Then hopefully D90!!! ROAR.

Tired and banged up. Will blog when I'm free. Super worn out and got a 9am lecture tomorrow. Gah.

First day of school! Cleaned up the ID studio. Got my own table. Still a bit funny cos eveyrone doesn't know everyone yet. =( Studio was ok. Went art friend later to buy materials. Blew $77 there. Now I have pens I like using! Dunno where my old ones went. I forgot to buy pushpins! =\ Need to get printer ink by tomorrow too! Also, I see my camera until damn gian But they dun accept my card! WTF! =\

OMG School starts tmr! =S So not used to this. Going to head down in the morning with a can of coffee from the fridge, one book, notebook and my pencilcase. Totally dunno what to bring. Lesson at 930. After tuition on Sun went bowling with Zorn at Kallang. =) Had fun. Had flashes of brilliance here and there but plenty of fail. Sadded. Needa practice more! Service sucks. They took the lane away from us, even though our 2nd lane still wasn't finished. =.=

After that, went Astons at Suntec for dinner and MOF for dessert. Had a thoroughly fantastic time. =) Slept away my National Day till 3pm before making noodles for lunch.

Guess our intended outing fell through.Too bad. No last meet up b4 sch. =\ Din do much today but packed up and brought more stuff in before sweeping and mopping my room. Yeah, didn't do it before. Lol. Kinda sick. Keep coughing. Tomorrow oughta be interesting! Com is strangely laggy.

Sentosa today was super fun. We were all damn high. I'm glad I didn't miss it. Woke up in the morning to heavy torrential rain. The skies were overcast and drizzly the whole day but we had fun. Hahaha. Wet sandy freezing cold fun. Everyone got ponded. Total ponding party.


Rest of the day was oik. Block culture and tradition is.somethin to get used to I guess. My schedule is slightly less confusing now. I'm ok tmr and for flag I think I have to go for a briefing in the afternoon. =S Oh ya, need to collect my clothes from the dryer in an hour! 345. Oops.
